Ace English pacer Jofra Archer is set to be back in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Initially, Jofra Archer’s name was not included in the 574 player’s list. And now a couple of days before the mega auction, the speedster has achieved his NOC from the ECB and is set to appear in the auction.
Reports claim, that Jofra Archer was unhappy after having not received his NOC from the English Cricket Board (ECB). Especially after the rules laid down by the BCCI, claimed a player who has previously played in IPL and has refused to take part in mega auction won’t be allowed to take part in the upcoming editions of IPL for the next couple of years.
U-Turn for Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer has been plagued with injuries over the last couple of years. And with the pacer’s desire to make a comeback into Test cricket, the ECB wished to keep the speedster away from IPL 2025 citing workload management. But the on the other hand, the pacer was displeased after not given the opportunity to play in the Indian Premier League.
“Mark Wood and Jofra Archer were on the initial longlist for the auction but then weren’t on the shortlist and it turns out by the sounds of it that the ECB have denied them NOCs [non-objection certificates. I am hearing there are some negotiations going on right now between the BCCI, the ECB and the agents,” cricket broadcaster Matt Kabir Floyd said on the It’s Not Just Cricket podcast.
Archer’s inclusion in the shortlist will make him the 38th English-qualified player to take part in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. And now, as a result, the 29-year-old Englishman will go under the hammer in Jeddah during the IPL mega Auction.
