Joe Root’s England Cricket team gets bumper sponsorship deal, Castore signs as new kit partner for $35 Million

England Cricket Kit Partner – ECB Bumper Sponsorship Deal: According to a report by The Times the agreement is worth UK£25 million (US$34.6 million) over ten years.

Castore is replacing US-based New Balance, which signed a five-year contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2017.

Umbro and Slazenger were among the other brands linked with a deal.

The new England cricket kit will use natural fabrics, which Castore says will make it the first completely recyclable sports collection.

It is worth noting that Castore is also the KIT-SPONSOR for the West Indies national side & announced a deal in 2019.

The brand followed that up in December 2020 by signing a three-year deal with England wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler, which saw Castore become the 31-year-old’s training apparel and sports lifestyle partner.

England Cricket Kit Partner – ECB Bumper Sponsorship Deal: Castore has made a number of notable moves in the UK sports market over the last few years, including inking kit contracts with the Premier League’s Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, as well as English rugby union side Saracens.

The company also has partnerships with the McLaren Formula One team, tennis great Andy Murray and Olympic swimming gold medallist Adam Peaty.

Speaking to the Times, Castore co-founder Tom Beahon said: “The market is clearly fond of fast-growing, direct-to-consumer companies, so we tick a lot of boxes for investors.

“There’s also been a lot of special purpose vehicles in the States, a lot of dry powder and a lot of US guys who are interested in helping us grow. We just want to keep building the business and we will see what follows.”

Beahon added that the new England kit would be sold at a lower price than is typical, as part of a commitment to the ECB’s strategy of inspiring a younger generation into the sport.

Beahon said: “We want to introduce the sport to a wider social group and for our product to be available to them, so that will mean selling at a lower price point than we do normally.”

The Times notes that the agreement with the ECB serves as a timely boost for Castore ahead of an expected stock market listing in 2022. The newspaper adds that the company is on track to make UK£100 million (US$138 million) of sales this year.
