Joe Root makes his IPL debut in Jaipur tonight for Rajasthan Royals in the final game of the weekend on Sunday. The former England captain was snapped up late by Rajasthan in the IPL 2023 Auction for Rs 1 crore. Now, after 10 games on the bench, Root makes his first appearance in the league.
Root needs no introduction and is amongst the Fabled Fab Four of his generation. The England superstar has more than 10,000 runs in Test cricket, while has 6,000 plus runs in ODIs. The veteran remains out of contention for England in T20Is, but averages 35.72 and has a strike-rate of 126.30 in T20Is. He was part of the England squad that reached the 2016 t20 World Cup finals.

Rajasthan need Root to fire in all cylinders as they push for a place in the IPL 2023 playoffs. While Yashasvi Jaiswal has fired in all cylinders, the rest of the batting order has struggled in recent games. Root’s experience and calibre should add more runs to the RR batting order, especially on tricky surfaces.
