England’s Jos Root has become the new number one ranked Test batter as per the latest update of the standings. The former England skipper has had a rather good outing in the series against West Indies, proving why he is a part of the ‘Fab 4′. Meanwhile, Indian openers Yasshasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have seen a meteoric rise in the T20I batters’ standings.
Joe Root is new No.1 ranked Test batter
Root managed a series-best 291 runs over three matches against the West Indies in the Test series. He also cropped up his 32nd Test hundred. He reclaimed the nuber one spot replacing New Zealamd’s Kane Williamson.
Jaiswal, Gill gain momentum
India cricket team’s T20I openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have jumped several spots in the T20I batters’ rankings after the victorious series against Sri Lanka. While th southpaw moved up two places to the fourth ranking, Gill moved 16 places to settle in the 21st position. Following his success in the India vs Sri Lanka series, spinner Ravi Bishnoi also wirnessed an eight-place jump in the T20I bowlers’ rankings. Marcus Stoinis is the current number one all-rounder in T20Is.
