Despite their historical disagreements, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir shared a hug during Friday’s IPL 2024 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). During a cooling break, Gambhir, a KKR mentor, went up to shake hands with Kohli. The former teammates from India shook hands and then hugged each other. Taking advantage of the ‘happy ending’, Delhi Police posted a humorous picture of Gambhir and Kohli on social media to promote their “Dial 112” service.
“Kisi bhi problem mein madad ke liye 112 hai taiyaar! Jhagda hua? Dial 112 aur jhagde ko shant karo! Koi bhi jhagda ‘Virat’ ya ‘Gambhir’ nahi (112 is ready to help out in any problem! Had a fight? Dial 112 and settle any argument, no fight is ‘big’ or ‘serious’ enough),” Delhi Police captioned the post.
Prior to the RCB vs KKR game, Kohli and Gambhir’s spat had taken center stage. Then-Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gambhir got into a heated argument with RCB’s Kohli during the IPL 2023, following the latter’s altercation with Naveen ul Haq.
However, Kohli’s RCB proved no match for Gambhir’s KKR in the IPL 2024 match. KKR chased a target of 183 and won the match comfortably with more than 3 overs to spare, thanks to Sunil Narine, Shreyas Iyer and Venkatesh Iyer’s powerful batting performances.
