Jemimah Rodrigues, Mandhana propels India women to their highest ODI score in IND W vs IRE W

Earlier, India Women's highest ODI score was 358/2 against the same opposition back in 2017.

Thanks to some excellent knocks from Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, the India Women reached their highest ODI score during the IND W vs. IRE W 2nd ODI match being played at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Sunday. While Smriti Mandhana scored a quickfire fifty with the bat, Jemimah Rodrigues scored her maiden ODI century, ensuring the India Women crossed the 370-run mark in their allotted 50 overs during the IND W vs. IRE W 2nd ODI clash.

IND W vs IRE W highlights

The India women piled on the runs after opting to bat on a belter in Rajkot. As stated above, this is their highest-ever ODI total, going past the previous best of 358, which was against Ireland as well. The two opening batters—Smriti Mandhana and Rawal—led the way with an opening stand of 156 in just 19 overs.

However, their dismissals off consecutive deliveries helped Ireland to slow the rate down considerably. Deol and Rodrigues, the new pair at the crease, took quite a bit of time to get going as they knocked the bowling around for a major part of 10-15 overs.

During this time, Georgina Dempsey bowled pretty well and was probably the pick of the bowlers. The acceleration did come towards the end as India scored 102 off the last 10 overs, with Rodrigues raising her first international hundred. As a result, India Women reached 371 in their allotted 50 overs in the IND W vs IRE W 2nd ODI.
