It has been a dream season for pacer Jaydev Unadkat. After making a comeback in India’s Test XI after 12 years in December, the Indian pacer has now marked a return in India’s ODI XI after 10 years. The 31-year-old has been included in India’s Playing XI for IND vs WI 3rd ODI. Unadkat’s last ODI was back in November 2013 against West Indies in Kochi.
The 31-year-old left-arm pacer Unadkat first scripted history when he was added to India’s playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
Unadkat was added to India’s Test squad as a replacement for Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out due to a shoulder injury.
Since then, he has been part of India’s setup. However, the pacer is now making a comeback in ODIs as well.
Unadkat in Team India’s World Cup plan?
With Unadkat making a return in India’s ODI XI, fans have assumed that Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid are considering the Indian pacer for the upcoming World Cup 2023. However, it is highly unlikely that the 31-year-old will find a spot in ODI World Cup 2023 squad.
With Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj’s place fixed in XI, Team India is unlikely to include another pacer in the squad.
Team India is likely to go with 3 spin and two pacers option. Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel are likely to be 3 spinners with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj being preferred pacers.
India’s Playing XI: Ishan Kishan(w), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya(c), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar
