After 106 Test matches, Ravichandran Ashwin have decided to call it ends to International Cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin bid goodbye to International Cricket after the IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba. While congratulatory messages flooded social media for the veteran all-rounder, it was Jay Shah and Gautam Gambhir’s messages that stole the headlines. The ICC Chairperson hailed Ashwin as a magician while Gambhir claimed the next generation would idolise Ashwin.

After a 14-year-long career, Ashwin finally hung his boots. He has played 106 Test matches for India where he managed to score 3503 runs and became India’s second-highest wicket taker in Tests with 537 scalps.

Messages pour in for Ravi Ashwin

Former BCCI Secretary and current ICC chairperson Jay Shah left a wonderful message on social media. He hailed Ashwin as a magician and a game-changer for India. Jay Shah ended the message by wishing him the very best for the future.

One of @bcci’s greatest match-winners – a magician with the ball and an astute thinker of the game. An international career to be proud of @ashwinravi99, wishing you the best for the future,” Jay Shah wrote on social media.

Current India Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir too lavished praises on Ashwin. He went on to claim that generations of bowlers will come and claim that they became bowlers because of Ashwin.

The privilege of seeing you grow from a young bowler to a legend of modern cricket is something that I wouldn’t trade for the world! I know that generations of bowlers to come will say that I became a bowler coz of Ashwin! U will be missed brother! ❤️@ashwinravi99,” Gambhir wrote on X.
