There is hardly any doubt that Jasprit Bumrah is the best bowler in the world, across formats. But it cannot be denied, that South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Pat Cummins are in the same league. If one has to pick the best among them, it could be a tedious task. The three are effective in all conditions, have enjoyed long careers till now, and look good for many more.
Jasprit Bumrah Better Than Pat Cummins & Kagiso Rabada?
But it is only fair, that we compare the performances of Bumrah, Rabada, Cummins in Tests, to give an idea, as to where they stand. The Indian has played the least number of Tests till now — 41, so let’s see, how all them placed at the same mark.
Jasprit Bumrah, the world no. 1 Test bowler in 41 matches, has picked up 181 wickets at an average of 20, and a strike rate of 43.6. Rabada, after 41 matches had picked up 190 wickets, whereas Cummins stands out with 197 scalps. Overall, now the Protean has picked up 313 wickets in 67 matches, and the Aussie — 272 in 63 matches.
If one talks about performances in the winning matches — Cummins in 35 encounters has picked up 166 wickets at an average of 18. And in losing causes, he has still be decent — in 18 matches has picked up 74 wickets at an average of 28. Rabada, meanwhile, has won 32 matches, and picked up 198 wickets. In losing cause, in 27 matches, he has 101 wickets.
Talking about Bumrah, his contribution in winning matches has been much more. IN 20 encounters, he has picked 110 wickets at an average of 14. Unfortunately, in losing causes, he has been the poorest of the three. The Indian has picked only 58 wickets in 18 matches, that the team has lost. His average there has been 29.
SO, tbh, there isn’t much that separates Bumrah, Rabada, and Cummins, but only about how they contribute to their teams wins.
