Jasprit Bumrah to get extended break? Ace pacer likely to be rested for IND vs BAN Test series

IND vs BAN Test: India Cricket Team star Jasprit Bumrah likely to get extended break, highly likely to be rested for India vs Bangladesh Test

Team India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is expected to get an extended period of break. While the remaining star players are likely to feature in Duleep Trophy, Bumrah won’t be a part of the same. On the other hand, there are considerable doubts regarding Bumrah’s selection in the IND vs BAN Test series.

After the heroics in the ICC T20 World Cup, Bumrah wasn’t a part of the IND vs SL T20I and ODI series. India Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir claimed that Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in the world and thus workload management is expected to play a huge part in his case.

Will Jasprit Bumrah play IND vs BAN Test series?

On the other hand, Bumrah won’t be a part of the domestic setup as well. Ace batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are likely to feature in the opening round of the Domestic tournament. Furthermore, since India’s main attention in on the Border-Gavaskar trophy, Team India wants Bumrah to be fit.

Thus, given the IND vs BAN Test series will take place on the home soil, Bumrah is likely to be rested for the series. In his absence Mohammed Siraj is likely to spearhead the pace attack. Mohammed Shami will also make the cut if he regains fitness after his knee surgery.

The message and the intent from the BCCI Selection Committee is relatively clear. They want Jasprit Bumrah to remain injury free. It is believed that India will easily win against Bangladesh and retain their top spot in the WTC Standings. But on the other hand, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in December-January is of paramount importance. And given the swing and bouncy pitches in Down Under, India want to unleash their best Boom Boom against the Aussies.
