Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Champions Trophy, Jaiswal replaced with Varun Chakaravarthy in India’s squad

Bumrah had injured his back last month and was always uncertain to play in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Jasprit Bumrah won’t travel with the India cricket team to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy. It always looked like the pacer wouldn’t be able to play in the tournament, having suffered a lower back injury in Sydney during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was tracking his progress, and just recently he’d undergone further scans to see whether his condition had improved.

Harshit Rana replaces injured Jasprit Bumrah

Team India’s batting coach, Sitanshu Kotak, had revealed in Cuttack that no update had been provided to the management by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) medical team yet. Well, it has come out now, and it isn’t great.

The BCCI has announced Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement for the ICC Champions Trophy. The pacer has been playing in the ongoing India vs. England ODI series and will join the team in Dubai as well.

Varun Chakaravarthy replaces Yashasvi Jaiswal

There are some other updates as well. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was originally part of Team India’s squad, has been replaced with Varun Chakaravarthy. The mystery has been exceptional since October last year, and after his T20I exploits, he was added to the ongoing England ODI series. Considering how the pictures behave in Dubai, adding him might be a good call.
