India cricket team skipper Jasprit Bumrah led from the front as he dismantled the Australian top-order in IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth. Opting to bat first, India were bundled out for just 150 runs in the 1st innings as Pat Cummins and co. wrapped up the Indian innings within two sessions. Bumrah ensured that India got off to a dream start, bagging three wickets within the first seven overs to put the hosts on the backfoot.

Bumrah’s first victim was debutant opener Nathan McSweeney (13) as the batter was trapped for an LBW after surviving just 12 deliveries in the 2nd over. He went on to pick two consecutive wickets in the 7th over, sending Usman Khawaja (8) and Steve Smith (0) packing. Australia were reduced to three wickets in very quick time, giving some much-needed momentum for India. Bumrah narrowly missed out on a hat-trick as Travis Head managed to survive Bumrah’s final delivery of the 7th over.

India’s top-order once again faltered, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (0) being the first batter to depart. Devdutt Padikkal attempted to ward off 22 deliveries without opening his account before he was sent packing in the next one. Virat Kohli’s troubles with the bat continued as he was caught off a delivery that got extra bounce from the Perth surface.

KL Rahul was dismissed in a controversial manner, with the third umpire making a horrible decision, thanks to “poor supply of technology”. Rishabh Pant and Nitish Reddy managed to hold the fort post lunch but the Indian batters couldn’t survive the onslaught of the Aussie pacers. Josh Hazlewood finished with a spell of 4/29 while Starc, Cummins and Marsh picked up 2 wickets each to wrap up India’s innings for 150.
