"Jasprit Bumrah not only one with job to get wickets": Rohit Sharma warns Indian bowlers after 10-wicket loss to Australia in IND vs AUS 2nd Test

India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma sounded a warning to other Indian bowlers to not be too overdependent on Jasprit Bumrah following the 10-wicket loss in IND vs AUS 2nd Test. His remarks come after other Indian bowlers, barring Mohammed Siraj, failed to perform in the Pink-Ball Test, allowing Australia to register a mammoth 337-run 1st innings total. Rohit Sharma categorically stated that it was not just Bumrah’s job to get wickets but was also on other bowlers to contribute equally.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Rohit Sharma applauded Siraj for joining hands with Bumrah to grab four wickets each in IND vs AUS 2nd Test. He stated that it was not just Bunrah’s responsibility to take wickets but was also on other bowlers to do so. He added that there were times when Bumrah will not get wickets and others need to step in to do so. He added that the same rule applied for the batters as well.

It is a great thing to have someone like Jasprit Bumrah but he is not the only to get the job done every time. The other guys have to take that responsibility. Siraj, when he got four wickets along with Bumrah, the responsibility was shared. That is what we look forward to. There are times when Bumrah will not wickets and the other guys need to step in,” Rohit Sharma said.

Further, Rohit Sharma said that it wasn’t about just one or two individuals and that everyone needed to share the responsibility in order to win a Test. He added that it was always nice to see a few guys share the responsibility.

While Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj managed to bag four wickets each in the 1st innings, the other bowlers hardly contributed. Nitish Reddy and Ashwin managed to take one wicket each. However, Harshit Rana – who was playing his 2nd Test – was smashed all around the park for 86 runs while he did not manage to pick even a single wicket despite bowling 16 overs.
