Jasprit Bumrah Injury: India vs Australia Test – India’s ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to follow teammate Ravindra Jadeja’s footsteps in returning to the India squad. Still far from achieving 100% fitness, Bumrah will continue his rehabilitation before heading to the National Cricket Academy for a fitness test. If he passes the test, he will play in domestic before returning to India Team during the Australia series. It should be noted that Bumrah hasn’t been named in the squad for the first two Tests. “He is making progress but he is far from 100%. He needs another 2 weeks of rehab before making a return to competitive cricket. If everything goes well, he may play in the domestic before returning to Test series. But it depends on the selectors and his condition,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

“Bumrah is a unique bowler. Let’s accept the fact that the kind of skills he brings is very difficult to replicate. It’s also an opportunity for other bowlers because you will be tested in different situations. It will help us understand what they bring to the game, at what stages did they bowl and how they did it. There are one-on-one discussions with them. It’s an ongoing process,” said India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey

Ravindra Jadeja Injury: FIT or UNFIT? Jadeja MYSTERIOUSLY out of IND vs NZ series despite passing fitness test at NCA, Check WHY?

Insidesport

Things look unsure for the Mumbai Indians speedster. Bumrah was en route to comeback after recovering from the back injury. While bowling at the NCA, he once again complained about a stiff back and was subsequently ruled out of the SriLanka series. He will have to continue his rehab to gain full fitness.

With World Cup just 10 months away at home, BCCI is not taking any chances regarding Bumrah.

“We cannot take any chance when it comes to players’ injuries. We already paid the price for a rushed return and he missed the T20 World Cup. He will only return when he is completely fit as he is crucial to our plans in World Cup. As for domestic, it is a good practice ground for all cricketers before going directly to international cricket,” the official said.

Taking a part in domestic cricket for a player returning from injury is nothing new in the Indian team. Teammate Ravindra Jadeja who recovered from his knee injury will play for Saurashtra before getting a nod to be a part of the Men in Blue. Apart from getting much-needed game practice, playing domestic cricket games, eases the path into International cricket by lowering the burden of stress and fatigue.

Workload Management is now a top priority for Rahul Dravid and the BCCI Team Selection Committee. Over the past years, injuries have been a prime concern for the Men in Blue. With players suffering from major and repetitive injuries, the rushing of a player back into the team has been slowed down. The injured players will have to pass a series of fitness tests to get the nod for the National team.
