Has the India cricket team lost two captains in the space of two days? First, Rohit Sharma decided to bench himself for the India vs Australia 5th Test. And now, there is an injury concern regarding Jasprit Bumrah. The interim Indian skipper had led the way on the second day in Sydney with the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne in the fourth over of the first session.
Jasprit Bumrah injured?
He bowled seven overs in total in the morning session. Rested, he came back for more after lunch. However, after bowling the 31st over (the second over after lunch), Bumrah walked off the field. At first, it seemed like enough. Bumrah has gone off the field for a little while a few times in the India vs Australia Test series.
But, after more than half an hour of no Bumrah on the field, everyone was worried. The longer Sarfaraz Khan, who came in as a substitute, stayed on the ground, the worse the Indian fans felt, and the worry of Bumrah being injured increased. Moments later, Bumrah was seen wearing the training kit and heading out of the ground with the support staff.
Bumrah overworked by Rohit Sharma?
One can presume that Bumrah is going for some scans. The only good part was that the pacer didn’t seem to have an issue while walking and didn’t exactly have a serious look on his face. One can only hope that he isn’t injured and that he returns to the field, if not on the second itself, then on the third day of the Sydney Test.
He’s bowled over 150 overs alone and had told Rohit Sharma he can’t bowl anymore in Brisbane, “Bas abhi. Nahi lag raha hai zor.” Has Bumrah been overworked to the point where he can’t return? Only time will tell.
