Jasprit Bumrah becomes new no.1 ranked Test bowler, Virat Kohli storms back into top 10

A six-wicket haul in IND vs BAN 2nd Test in Kanpur has propelled Jasprit Bumrah past Ashwin to become the new no.1 ranked Test bowler

India cricket team’s premium pacer Jasprit Bumrah is the new number one ranked bowler in Tests, as per the latest updated rankings. The fiery bowler overtook teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to reclaim the top spot following a sensational IND vs BAN series. Meanwhile, batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli made a huge jump in the ranking for batters.

Jasprit Bumrah returns to no.1 position in Test rankings

Jasprit Bumrah’s six-wicket haul in IND vs BAN 2nd Test in Kanpur propelled him past Ashwin to the number one position. The Tamil Nadu spinner is second on the list, having taken five wickets in the Test. Ashwin is behind Bumrah by just one rating point. Ravindra Jadeja is the third Indian bowler to feature in the top 10 and is currently ranked 6th.

Batting maestro Virat Kohli has stormed back into the top 10 ranking for Test batters after he tasted success in the 2nd Test. He climbed six spots to settle in the sixth position. Meanwhile, southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal – India’s leading run-getter in the current WTC cycle – moved two spots to settle in the 3rd position. Rishabh Pant slipped three spots to the ninth position in the latest rankings for Test batters.

Ravindra Jadeja continues to occupy the top spot in the ranking for Test all-rounders. He is followed by Ashwin, who is in the second position.

India finish Kanpur Test in lightning quick fashion

India clinched a comfortable seven-wicket win against Bangladesh in Kanpur. After losing two days of play due to rain on Day 2 and 3, India wasted no time in bundling out Bangladesh on Day 4 in their 1st innings. Rohit Sharma and co. went all guns blazing with the bat in the 1st innings, going on to score the fastest hundred by a team in Tests en route. The innings saw Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul make quickfire half-centuries while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played selflessly to propel India to take a lead. It took less than two sessions for India on Day 5 to wrap up the game as Bumrah, Ashwin and Jadeja wreaked havoc on the visitors to send them packing.
