Jammu and Kashmir set to host Ranji Trophy matches after hiatus of six years

Sheri Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar will host two of the matches, with Jammu hosting the third.

The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) announced that it will host three Ranji Trophy matches after a six-year break, which is a significant development for cricket in the Kashmir region. The JKCA was awarded hosting rights by the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI), which has led to the sporting advancement.

Two matches in Srinagar, one in Jammu

Majid Dar, in charge of developing cricket in Kashmir, verified the development. He announced that the Sheri Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar will host two of the matches, with Jammu hosting the third. The Jammu game’s schedule has not yet been released.

“According to the match schedule issued by the BCCI, J&K’s Ranji team will play against Maharashtra and Services in Srinagar at Sheri Kashmir cricket stadium,” Dar said.

Huge development for J&K cricket

Even though the Srinagar matches are slated for October, the local cricketers in the valley say that this is a momentous occasion for the players and fans who have been waiting impatiently for the return of elite cricket to the area.

According to them, local players should feel more motivated and have a larger platform to display their skills when the Ranji Trophy matches return.
