James Anderson confirms he’ll retire after England’s first Test at Lord’s in July

Veteran England pacer James Anderson confirmed that he will retire after the first Test of the summer at Lord's.

Veteran England pacer James Anderson confirmed that he will retire after the first Test of the summer at Lord’s. Reports emerged of England coach Brendon McCullum making a 5-day trip to the UK to convince the veteran pacer to bring the curtains down on his glorious career, keeping in mind the team’s future.

Anderson took to Instagram to share a post and revealed that he would indeed be retiring at the start of the summer while going on to propose a vote of thanks. West Indies will take on England in the 1st Test at Lord’s from July 10-14.

As per The Guardian, McCullum made a five-day stop in the UK and informed Anderson over a golf tour that he expected the veteran to retire. He cited the need for England to look into the future of their Test side as to why Anderson should retire.
