It’s probably ending: Fans react as Shreyas Iyer endures another poor outing in Ranji Trophy final

Iyer has been under the spotlight for quite a few weeks due to his poor form and his woes continued as he gave away his wicket trying to chase a wide ball from Umesh Yadav.

Shreyas Iyer once again faltered with a bat as a short delivery from Umesh Yadav fetched the Mumbai batter’s wicket in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. Iyer has been consistently misfiring with the bat in the recent weeks, and his woes continued on Sunday. The disappointing performance led cricket lovers on social media to bash the batter as some claimed Iyer’s career was almost over after a string of poor performances.

Shreyas Iyer plays needless shot to depart in Ranji Trophy final, skipper's form a worry for KKR management

Iyer was unsuccessful in his first attempt at the tournament final, hoping to gain some ground in the Ranji Trophy. Iyer did not succeed in stabilizing the Mumbai innings after coming into bat with three wickets down in the 25th over.

Outside the off stump, the batter jabbed at an innocuous delivery from Umesh Yadav. The delivery was bowled short of good length by the experienced pacer. Iyer appeared to be waiting for the short ball with his back to the ball, but he ultimately managed to push the ball out of his body and into Karun Nair’s hands, who was standing at first slip.
