India lost the IND vs SA 1st Test by an innings and 32 runs as the visiting country’s dream of winning their first Test series in South Africa was shattered. Barring KL Rahul in the first innings and Virat Kohli in the second innings, none of the Indian batters could get going on the Centurion pitch as Kagiso Rabada and Nandre Burger both picked up 7-wicket hauls in the match.
None of the Indian batters looked comfortable on the Centurion pitch which offered quite a bit of bounce and carry. However, South Africa’s Dean Elgar smashed a first innings 185 to help South Africa to their win.
On being asked about the Cape Town pitch, Rohit said the pitch looked similar to the Centurion pitch. Rohit also said the Cape Town pitch has a little less grass than the Centurion one.
“Pitch looks similar to Centurion. There is enough covering of grass but not as much as Centurion. But the overhead conditions will make a lot of difference. It’s pretty hot,” Rohit said.
