South African batter Matthew Breetzke on Friday named Virat Kohli as his inspiration. The batter, who plies trade for Durban Super Giants, is due to play in the SA20 2024 final against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
Breetzke is having a fantastic season with the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024. He is the fourth highest run scorer in the tournament so far. The batter has scored 398 runs in 12 games with an average of over 33 and a strike rate of over 142. The batter has scored two half-centuries in the tournament so far. He has hit 22 over-boundaries and 39 boundaries.
Ahead of the SA20 2024 final, he was asked about his favourite player in the world. Breetzke did not take a moment to reply.
“For me, it’s probably Virat Kohli. I think just because of the way he’s performed so long and how he’s kept his energy for so long,” Breetzke said.
“It’s incredible to play with that intensity with that expectation and perform day in and day out. I just love that about him,” Breetzke added.
Virat is an inspiration for a lot of young batters and Breetzke is no different. It remains to be seen if he can replicate Virat’s form in the SA20 2024 final on Saturday.
