The BCCI, after much speculation confirmed that the remainder of the IPL 2024 will happen in India, despite the dates clashing with the general elections, this April, May and June. The BCCI secretary Jay Shah told Cricbuzz, that ‘it won’t be moved overseas’.
There were reports doing the rounds that some IPL franchises had asked for the matches to be moved outside India, and that the BCCI was exploring options for the same. But the entire matter has been put to rest now. In fact, the BCCI is expected to release the second leg’s schedule soon.
The IPL 2024 will begin on March 22 with the CSK vs RCB match in Chennai. Meanwhile, the IPL schedule for this year, has only been announced for the first two weeks, till April 7, where a total of 22 matches will take place.
IPL 2024 Final on May 26?
It seems like that the BCCI has already prepared a tentative, full IPL schedule, where final changes will be made, if at all any needed. KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir, during his speech made at team’s practice session, mistakenly revealed the IPL final date as May 26. If at all that date is true, the fans can brace up for more double-headers in the competition.
