Hardik Pandya the bowler has 56 wickets in 129 matches in his IPL career, where he averages 33 overall, and has an economy rate of 8.97.

Nothing is going right for Hardik Pandya at the moment. He is being criticised for his on-field performances, as well his conduct during the matches, where he just seems to be trying too hard. That is the last thing that Team India would want from a player of Pandya’s stature, who is of utmost importance to the team with the T20 World Cup around the corner.

Hardik Panyda’s Mediocre Performance in IPL 2024

In six matches so far, Hardik has only managed 131 runs, and it has been nothing short of a struggle. He averages 26, and has been poor as far as his bowling is concerned. After opening the bowling in the first few matches, he has hardly bowled in the last four, even raising concerns over his fitness.

Could Hardik Pandya Miss the Bus for T20 World Cup?

With so much going on, could Hardik miss the cut for the upcoming World Cup? Well, he seems to have been given a clear message from the selectors. As per a report in the Indian Express, in a meeting held between Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid and Ajit Agarkar, Hardik was discussed. And it was made clear that the latter needs to bowl regularly.

This year he has three wickets in six matches, and given away 132 runs. He averages 44 with the ball, and leaks runs at an economy rate of 12.

Who Could Replace Hardik in T20 World Cup?

Another fast bowling all-rounder option is Shivam Dube, who has been exceptional with the bat, but has not bowled at all. In fact, he has been used as an impact sub. But he also finds in the mix with his exceptional hitting abilities. If only he can regularly bowl four overs, then he might also make the cut.
