India Women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur lauded the team for perfectly executing their plans as IND W beat ENG W by 347 runs to clinch an historic win. Heather Knight and co were completely outfoxed by India, especially Deepti Sharma who put up an all-round show.
It’s all about the plan for Harmanpreet Kaur
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet Kaur lauded the side for carrying out the plans effectively. The skipper gave credit to all players for delivering their best and that the first 40 minutes was crucial for picking wickets.
“Feeling great. We were thinking about how to win the game at the start of the match. Everything went according to the plan. It was a plan, we had to execute those plans. We had a couple of days to prepare before the start of this game. All the players took the responsibility and delivered their best. The first 40 minutes were crucial, as a team we were looking to pick wickets. I know I will get opportunities to score centuries in the future, but winning the game was important. They knew their plans and they executed them accordingly”, said Harmanpreet Kaur.
Knight admits England’s inexperience
Meanwhile, England skipper Heather Knight called India’s play ‘outstanding’. Admitting that her side wasn’t used to the extreme conditions, she noted that the conditions test the players as cricketers. Knight added that the team has learnt a lot from the experience.
” I think India played outstandingly, they made us suffer. They batted well in the first innings, as a team we learnt a lot. Credit to the way how they played. The conditions were extreme, we are not used to it. Scoring runs was tougher. India bowled better than the first innings today. A lot of things to improve on, Indian conditions test you as a cricketer. We had some brilliant performances. Bell’s consistency. Execution is so important. You can get punished if you miss bowling in the right areas. It hasn’t gone the way we wanted to, but we have learnt a lot from this experience,” Knight said.
IND W clinch historic win
It did not take more than 28 overs for Team India to register an emphatic victory in the longest format of the game after a gap of nine years, as they beat mediocre England by 347 runs in the only Test at Navi Mumbai, on Saturday. After declaring the innings at the overnight score of 186/6, the Indian bowlers were on top of their game once again, as they bundled out hapless visitors for a paltry 131 runs.
