England’s 20-year-old spinner Shoaib Bashir admitted that the visa fiasco, which forced him to miss the opening Test, was “a bit of a hassle”.
Talking to reporters after making his debut in IND vs ENG Test, Bashir insisted that despite the hassle, he was ‘pretty chilled’ about it.
“I had no doubts at all I’d get here. I always knew I’d get the visa. It was a bit of a hassle but I’m here now and I got to make my debut. That’s all that matters really”, Bashir said after the day’s play.
“I was always pretty chilled about it all because I always knew it was going to get sorted. Thanks to ECB and BCCI for sorting it out”, the youngster added.
Notably, Bashir, who was part of England’s training in Abu Dhabi, had to travel back to London to get his visa approved.
Bashir made his debut on Friday and picked up two wickets, including the key wicket of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma early in the innings.
Talking about his debut, Bashir said, “It’s been a very special day and all I’ve been through over the last two or three years has made it even more special”.
