Yashasvi Jaiswal’s controversial dismissal during the IND vs AUS 4th Test has sparked heated debates, and even India’s captain Rohit Sharma has shared his views on the decision that led to Jaiswal’s unfortunate departure. Rohit expressed his confusion and frustration over the entire situation. He admitted that from the naked eye, it appeared there was some sort of touch, but the technology didn’t register any clear spike. “I don’t know what to make of that because the technology didn’t show anything, but with the naked eye, it seemed that he did touch something,” Rohit said.
The Role of technology in decision-making
While Jaiswal seemed understandably upset with the decision, Rohit chose not to dwell on it. Instead, he pointed out how, more often than not India finds itself on the wrong side of controversial technology-based calls. “We are the ones falling on the wrong side of it,” he said, referring to several similar instances in the past. “So it has been happening since India. But, yeah, that’s that’s where we I feel we’ve been little unfortunate. Yeah.” he added.
A similar controversy earlier in the series
This particular dismissal echoes a similar controversy from earlier in the series, when KL Rahul’s dismissal was also affected by the snicko meter. In Jaiswal’s case, however, the third umpire appeared to rely more on his judgment than the technology, which has raised questions about consistency in decision-making.
