Siraj, in a conversation with Indian Bowling Coach Paras Mhambrey, explained how Bumrah helped him achieve his best bowling figures in South Africa’s first innings. Notably, Bumrah took two wickets in the first innings.
Replying to a question of Paras Mhambrey about whether he thought South Africa would be all out for 55 runs in the first innings in the morning of the match, Mohammed Siraj said, “The conditions were so hot, I didn’t think we would get 10 wickets so easily.
“To be honest, it was all about my bowling partnership with Bumrah. It is said bowling partnerships are important in Test cricket. Although Bumrah did not get too many wickets in the first innings, he kept up the pressure from the other end. It benefits the team knowing wickets can come from both ends,” Siraj said.
