Ishan Kishan’s international comeback in the hands of Rishabh Pant, could play IND vs BAN T20Is

Kishan has played 32 T20Is for India.

November 28, 2023—that was the last time Ishan Kishan played for the Indian cricket team. Since then a lot has transpired. He went from being the first-choice wicketkeeper in Tests and a regular in white-ball cricket to nowhere near the team. It all started with him requesting some time off. But it escalated to him refusing to play domestic cricket (Ranji Trophy) and then subsequently getting axed from BCCI’s central contract.

On the comeback trail, he’s been playing domestic cricket. Currently, he’s in action. Playing for India C in the Duleep Trophy. This return to first-class cricket might prove to be fruitful for the keeper batter in white-ball. According to PTI, Kishan has a chance to return to India’s T20I team next month.

Pant to help Kishan

There is a chance that the Indian management might decide to rest Rishabh Pant. Having returned to cricket in March, Pant has played continuous cricket. He’s set to feature in his first Test match since November 22, and keeping in mind that New Zealand Tests follow soon after, there is a chance that he’ll be rested for the India vs Bangladesh T20I series.

If Pant’s rested, Kishan might make a return. As a southpaw wicketkeeper batter, he’ll be a perfect replacement for Pant. Moreover, Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill might also be rested for the 3-match series, and Kishan could potentially take his place at the top of the order.
