I cannot put into words what I’m feeling right now but I’ll try. I’m overwhelmed by the love, the messages, the wishes. This is an innings that will stay in my heart forever, a day that I won’t forget, and these moments that I’ll always carry with me. Thank you for everything 🇮🇳 pic.twitter.com/xlNzuWxA4w

Ishan Kishan’s father Pranav Kumar Pandey never speaks to him when he performs well, not even when he recently scored a double century against Bangladesh.
“Jab century maarta hai mai jyada kuch nahi bolta, puri duniya se shabaashi mil rahi hoti hai (When he scores runs, I don’t say much to him because he receives the congratulatory message from everyone),” Pandey Sr told The Indian Express.
“He called me after the match and I told him ‘next match you will again start from zero. Don’t let this double hundred get into your head,” he says.
When his son was not selected for the T20 World Cup, Pranav Pandey relates how his kid was quite unhappy, and it was at that time that he and his son shared a special moment.
“So one day, I sat him down and told him to stop feeling sorry for yourself. From now onwards, your job should be to make sure that they don’t get an excuse to drop you. Let your bat do the talking, you are still very young, there is a 50 over World Cup next year, prepare for that and make all the opportunities count,” shared Pramod Pandey.
Ishan travelled from Bangladesh to Kolkata, then another aircraft transported him to Ranchi, where he joined the Jharkhand Ranji Trophy team.
The 24-year-old hammered his 6th first-class century against Kerala just five days after hitting a double-century in an ODI. He came in when Jharkhand were 114/4, scored 132 off 195, and added 202 runs with Saurabh Tiwary for the fifth wicket (97).
The Jharkhand collapse was started by Jalaj Saxena, who dismissed Tiwary and Kishan in consecutive overs on his way to a five-wicket haul as they were dismissed for 340, giving up a 135-run advantage. At Stumps, Kerala increased the lead to 195 while ending at 60/1.
