Ishan Kishan has begun his new preparation to make a comeback into the Indian Cricket Team. Questions were raised after his long absence from the team. The southpaw excused himself midway from the India tour of South Africa. He then paid no heed to play Ranji Trophy games. Finally, Kishan has begun his training in Baroda to contest for his place in the team.
A couple of days back, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid made it clear to the wicketkeeper. The message was simple – Kishan has to start playing regularly to get his chance in the team. Previously, Ishan Kishan remained missing when he was asked to play Ranji Trophy games for Jharkhand.
“Ishan Kishan needs to start playing to be considered for selection, we are in touch with him,” said Rahul Dravid after the IND vs ENG Test in vizag.
“There’s a way back for anyone and everyone. It’s not that we rule out anybody from anything. I just don’t want to go on labouring about the Ishan Kishan point. I’ve tried to explain it as best as I can. The point was that, you know, he requested a break. We were happy to give him the break and whenever he was ready… I didn’t say he has to play domestic cricket. I said, whenever he’s ready he needs to play some cricket and come back, and the choice is his,” Dravid added.
IPL over Team India?
Ishan Kishan is currently training at the Kiran More Academy. It is also the academy for Hardik and Krunal Pandya trains. It remains to be seen when Kishan will make himself available for the games. With the IPL 2024 fast approaching, it can also be a hint that he is preparing for the mega tournament.
Hardik Pandya is the new skipper of Mumbai Indians. And with IPL 2024 with the T20 World Cup fast approaching, it can be understood that Kishan has his targets set. It would have been ideal if Kishan would have been a part of the IND vs ENG Test series with KS Bharat not firing.
