Is SKY & Bumrah unhappy? Harsha Bhogle dissects captaincy drama at Mumbai Indians

IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians captaincy dram unfolds, Harsha Bhogle raises questions whether SKY and Jasprit Bumrah are unhappy?

The captaincy dram continues at Mumbai Indians. There is unrest among the team members as with the fans. New skipper Hardik Pandya has been booed both in home and away games. Eminent Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has had his say on the matter. He has claimed how apart from Rohit Sharma, players like SKY or Jasprit Bumrah are unhappy at not being the captain of the team.

Mumbai Indians roped in Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024 Auction. The MI management then surprised everyone by announcing him as the new skipper of the team. As a result, Rohit Sharma has been dropped as the team captain.

Players Unhappy in Mumbai Indians?

“All I will say to all the actors in this drama, do not see what’s being said on social media. I tell that to every young player. But it’s not easy to do that. I have learnt to do it but I am much older and I had learnt after a lot of experience. That is from the fans’ point of view because the fans are the heart and soul of our game and you got to look after them,” Harsha Bhogle said on his YouTube channel.

Harsha Bhogle has claimed that players like Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to be unhappy with the scenario. After Rohit, both SKY and Bumrah are the senior most players in the team. SKY has captain Mumbai before, while Bumrah is the vice captain of the Indian team. The ace speedster has also captained India in Tests before.

“What about Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav? Suryakumar Yadav has been the captain of Mumbai before. Given the kind of person he was as noticed by Gautam Gambhir, they made him vice-captain of Kolkata Knight Riders very early, you would have said look I love Rohit, if not Rohit why not me,” Bhogle added.

“And Jasprit Bumrah would have had exactly the same situation. I have been captain of India in a Test match, I am a very cerebral bowler, I read the game well, I am at the height of my powers then why not me. So, they are unhappy. Now with all these things in perspective, you have got to make sure your side wins,” Bhogle concluded.
