The 36-year-old said that they want to keep their bowlers fresh and don’t want them to get fatigued in hot and humid conditions in Guwahati. Rohit added that the team is coming into this game after playing 7-8 high intensity matches and now wants to stay fresh for their first World Cup game against Australia.

“Just want to make sure that our bowlers stay fresh and bowl under the lights which is not gonna be so taxing for the bowlers”, Rohit said at the toss.

“We have been playing lot of cricket off late, so just want to make sure that we are looking after them. It (warm-up game) is a formality that we are trying to do. We want to make sure that the guys stay fresh for the 8th of October”, the Indian skipper added.

Notably, Team India is coming into the World Cup 2023 after winning Asia Cup 2023 and the 3-match ODI series against Australia.
