There is never an end to rumours when MS Dhoni takes the field for CSK, and the topic is always his retirement. On Saturday, as soon as it became clear, that his parents were in Chennai to witness the CSK vs DC match, all sorts of speculative reports started doing the rounds, that it could be Thala’s last.
No Retirement on Cards for MS Dhoni
But then it wasn’t to be, as no such announcement came after the match, and later head coach Stephen Fleming also confirmed the same. On being asked a question on MS Dhoni’s retirement, Fleming refused. He replied, “No, that’s not my role to put an end to it. I have no idea. I’m just enjoying working with him still. He’s still going strong. I don’t even ask these days. You are the ones who ask.”
Meanwhile, it was poor game for MSD and his team, as they lost to DC by a huge margin of 25 runs, while chasing 184. Dhoni’s performance with the bat was particularly bad, as he could only score 30 from 26 deliveries. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad too identified the problem and said, “Since the last few games, it’s not going our way.
“We are trying to improve, trying our best, but not going our way. Definitely lost too many wickets. It’s a major concern even in the bowling department. We are giving way 15-20 runs extra or losing too many wickets. We are trying, but it’s just not happening,” said Gaikwad.
CSK’s Woes Increase After Another Defeat
“I just think that we are slightly over concerned or tentative whoever is bowling in powerplay. And with the bat obviously you don’t want to lose an extra wicket but it’s just about being positive. I think it’s about being on the back foot and not being on the toes. Everyone needs to come together to make things happen. We need to make things happen,” he added.
