Is Mayank Yadav playing in LSG vs DC IPL 2025 match?

Lucknow Super Giants are set to face Delhi Capitals in a thrilling IPL 2025 clash, but is LSG’s young pace sensation Mayank Yadav playing today?

Is it fair to say that most of Lucknow Super Giants’ bowlers are off the field and currently at the NCA in Bengaluru? Well, that certainly seems to be the case. LSG’s start to IPL 2025 won’t be smooth, as several key players, particularly bowlers, are dealing with injuries. Among them, the most anticipated name is Mayank Yadav, who impressed everyone with his bowling last season. Unfortunately, he will miss LSG’s opening game against DC and several more matches. But what’s the reason behind his absence?

Why is Mayank Yadav not playing in the DC vs LSG match?

The reason why he is not playing today’s clash is that he is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to recover from a back injury. Initially, he was expected to return in the first half of April, but now, for more clarity, LSG head coach Justin Langer himself provided an update that may disappoint LSG and Mayank Yadav fans. Just a day before the match, LSG head coach said that the young bowler has picked up a fresh injury. He will now only be available in the final week of the IPL 2025 season.

“Mayank, who everyone was very excited about last year, he was going quite well (coming back from a back injury), and he kicked his toe on the bed. He got an infection in his toe. It’s put his rehab back about a week or two weeks. But he’s up and running. We regularly see videos of him bowling. I saw a video of his yesterday. So, hopefully by the back end of the tournament, Mayank will be up and ready to go for us.” Langer told media
