One of the questions that still troubles Indian fans is – Is IPL fixed? Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka went on to answer this crucial question in a recent podcast. He went on to categorically clarify that no such incident takes place in the Indian Premier League. Mr Goenka further thanked the BCCI for handling this major issue with utmost care.
Previously the IPL was found and charged. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned for 2 years after the Lodha Committee found these two teams guilty of spot-fixing back in 2013. But since then, no such incident has happened, and now in this era, no such thing is entertained.
No Fixing in IPL claims Sanjiv Goenka
LSG owner went on to vehemently deny that fixings occur in the Indian Premier League. He claimed that it is just not possible now. Furthermore, he added that since it doesn’t happen in the IPL, there is a high chance it doesn’t happen anywhere else as well.
“It cannot be. To think of it is such preposterous. This is not possible. At least in IPL, this is not possible at all. And if it is not in IPL then it is nowhere. And I give huge credit to Jay Shah and the BCCI for handling this issue. Kudos to them for bringing India to the highest victory level, apart from the rest,” Sanjiv Goenka said in the TRP podcast.
Mr. Goenka also credited the BCCI for their huge contributions to Indian Cricket. He thanked former BCCI Secretary and current ICC Chairperson Jay Shah for maintaining high standards in the league. Furthermore, the LSG owner praised the BCCI claiming that India is the only country that has the resources and pool to feature 3 different teams if parallel tournaments take place.
“Also right now, you can not only prepare one or two but also prepare 3 Indian teams for parallel tournaments. And this is a huge contribution of the BCCI to Indian cricket,” he concluded.
