Why was the Champions Trophy event in Lahore cancelled?

According to Cricbuzz, the event where the ICC was set to announce the Champions Trophy schedule was canceled after the BCCI informed the ICC that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan. This development has limited the ICC’s options for deciding the tournament’s format and venue.

While reports point to scheduling issues and diplomatic tensions, another ICC official mentioned that Lahore’s heavy smog could also be a factor in the cancellation. They referred to the event as a “trophy tour flag-off” rather than a final schedule announcement.

Sources suggest that the launch might still take place, depending on Lahore’s environmental conditions.

Will India play in Champions Trophy 2025?

“BCCI secretary Jay Shah has hinted that India will participate in the Champions Trophy, but he has not mentioned anything about traveling to Pakistan.

“The way this team is progressing, our target is to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy. There will be a similar squad playing there. The seniors will be there,” Jay Shah said.
