SA bowlers under fire: Proteas, on the other hand, will look forward to strengthen their bowling department which has leaked runs in first two ODIs, the opening match was rain-washed after Ireland innings. They failed to take enough wickets as SA piled 290/5 (50 overs) in the second ODI and 195/4 (40.2 overs) in the rain-abandoned opener. SA can make a turnaround and level the ODI series 1-1 ahead of the upcoming T20I series. The main focus will be on Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje in the series decider.

History awaits Cricket Ireland: While South Africa are ranked 5th in the latest ICC Rankings, Ireland are not even in top 10 (Ranked 12th). The latter can register their maiden back-to-back win over a top 8 ranked team and end their 6 series losing streak. Ireland’s previous series win came over Zimbabwe nearly 2 years ago (in July 2020).

World Cup Super League: A win would take Ireland to 3rd position in the World Cup Super League table after England and Bangladesh. Sitting on top of the table can revive the hope of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. On the flip side, South Africa can only jump to 10th spot ahead of next round of fixtures. A loss for the Proteas could make their qualification tricky.
