A total of 333 cricketers, including 214 Indians and 119 overseas players, are set to be part of the mini IPL auction, vying for the remaining 77 slots among the 10 teams.

Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction to unfold at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. To fuel that excitement, the official Instagram page of the IPL recently treated fans to a glimpse of the coveted IPL trophy in all its glory in the vibrant city of Dubai.

In a visually striking video, the iconic IPL trophy toured Dubai, gracing popular attractions and showcasing its splendor. The decision to host this year’s auction overseas, specifically in Dubai, marks a historic move by the BCCI, emphasizing their commitment to creating memorable events.

Concerns over hotel availability during the wedding season prompted the shift to Dubai, according to reports. The anticipation is further heightened by the fact that the upcoming IPL season will be the final year of the three-year player contract, with a mega auction expected next year.

Historic IPL 2024 Auction

Adding a groundbreaking touch to the event, it is speculated that Mallika Sagar, who previously served as the gavel master in the Women’s Premier League, will become the first woman auctioneer in the IPL’s history. This development comes after legendary auctioneer Hugh Edmeades faced health issues during the 2022 auction.

A total of 333 cricketers, including 214 Indians and 119 overseas players, are set to be part of the mini IPL auction, vying for the remaining 77 slots among the 10 teams. Among the franchises, two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders hold the highest number of vacant slots at 12, each team aiming to strengthen their squads within a maximum limit of 25 players.
