IPL stars flood Duleep Trophy squads, RCB & DC top contributors but LSG lag behind

As many as 44 players, who are part of the IPL franchises, got their names called up in the recent Duleep Trophy squads.

The Indian domestic cricket is in the headlines after ages, with several high-profile names getting selected in the Duleep Trophy squads. While Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are naturally rested, huge names like Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer and Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead the four Duleep Trophy squads.

The recently announced Duleep Trophy squads have unveiled an interesting trend: a significant presence of Indian Premier League (IPL) players. While it’s no surprise that the premier T20 league produces top talent, the numbers in the Duleep Trophy squads are quite telling. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), two of the most successful IPL franchises, have sent four players each to the tournament, including household names in Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Gaikwad.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals (DC) have made the most significant contribution with eight players, showcasing their depth in domestic cricket. For Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), meanwhile, as many as five players will feature in the multi-day format tournament. In contrast, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), a relatively new franchise, has the least representation with just two players, one of them who is none other than KL Rahul.
