But the 25-year-old could be well en-route to a Team India debut. But unfortunately, it won’t be for the ICC T20 World Cup, it will be for the IND vs ZIM series.
New Star in the Making!
Ashutosh Sharma made a mark for himself after some explosive performances in IPL 2024. He along with Shashank Singh have been detrimental in finishing games for Punjab Kings from the jaws of defeat. With such impressive performances, a Team India debut is up for grabs.
But it won’t be for the ICC T20 World Cup. The BCCI is unwilling to make random choices for the mega tournament. On the other hand, with players like Ashutosh performing at a top level, he is expected to debut his debut for the Men in Blue very soon.
IND vs ZIM series
With no chance in the ICC T20 World Cup, the next best option is the IND vs ZIM T20I series. India will tour Zimbabwe after the World Cup. It will be the series where the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli won’t be playing. This will in turn make spots open for the team.
And one of the firsts to grab the spot will be Ashutosh Sharma. The 25-year-old has proved his worth with his brilliant batting displays. Sanjay Bangar has claimed that he isn’t a slogger and in fact plays proper cricketing shots.
