This year’s mega IPL auction has led to all sorts of speculations. The IPL retentions seem to be a game that is not understood by all, by certainly discussed by all. And from those discussions have emerged a few reports, that suggest, the keeping an eye on the future, Team CSK might want to look to rope in wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant.
Yes, that’s right. Even though MS Dhoni has signaled that he might play in the IPL for some more time, but the franchise certainly has to be ready with his replacement, and to be honest, there are no keeper-batsmen better than Rishabh Pant at the moment.
Just talking about the IPL, he has played 111 matches till now, scored 3284 runs at an average of 35, and a strike-rate of 148. He even has a ton to his name, along with 18 fifties. So, that makes it evident, that CSK might bid for him in the IPL auction 2025.
What If Rishabh Pant Comes to CSK..
But here, there is an issue for sure, for the team. As per reports, it is clear that the money-deal between Pant and DC did not go according to the script..so now, CSK will have to be ready to give into Pant’s demands. He could even ask for the captaincy, which was only handed over to Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024, from MS Dhoni.
In a way, this could be a blessing in disguise for them. Firstly, it just creates another, new fan base for CSK, which is only dominated by Dhoni for now. Then, tactically, Pant might be a better choice, who not only has experience of leading DC but also Team India on certain occasions.
Nothing enough Ruturaj Gaikwad, but he is yet to establish himself as a star, who could take over from Dhoni, and that was visible in this year’s tournament. In fact, Pant might also just have the ready support of all the players in the team, because of his credentials in all the formats, and even IPL. So, in case, Pant is brought to CSK, he should be the definite choice for the leadership role.
