IPL Retention list for RCB: Virat Kohli, Patidar in, Mohammed Siraj and foreigners kicked out

RCB IPL Retentions: On Friday, Virat Kohli was retained for a massive 21 Cr, followed by Rajat Patidar at 11 Cr, and Yash Dayal at 5 Cr.

On Thursday, RCB announced their list of retained players, that was full of surprises. Like it was known to all, Virat Kohli was the first retained player for INR 18 Cr, but the other picks have managed to raise the eyebrows. The team managed to retain MP batsman Rajat Patidar and fast bowler Yash Dayal as well.

Virat Kohli, who is struggling for form right now, was an exceptional performer in the IPL 2024, and managed to win the Orange Cap as well, with a total of 741 runs. In 15 matches, he had a ton, to go with five fifties as well. Most importantly, he had a strike rate of 154. On the other hand, Rajat Patidar was decent with 395 runs in 15 matches, scoring five fifties as well. But his strike-rate was a staggering 177.

It is interesting to note, that RCB did not retain any of the foreign players, including 2024 skipper Faf du Plessis. That also means Virat Kohli, who is retained for 21 Cr, could be the skipper once again. One of the other major surprises was that India pacer Mohammed Siraj was also not considered for retention.

It must be reminded that Siraj had been decent for the franchise. In 87 matches, he had 83 wickets at an average of 31.44, and an economy rate of 8.60. That said, in 2024 season, he had 15 wickets, and his economy was 9.18, that must have decided his fate.
