Reports in Cricbuzz says Sky Sports and SuperSport have both ourchased the Invitation To Tender (ITT) document, but they are likely to bid for the world rights of IPL. Besides them, Star India Pvt Ltd, Viacom 18 Media Private Limited, Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited, Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited and Sporta Technologies Pvt Ltd have also purchased the document.

While these eight entities’ purchase is seemingly confirmed, there are also rumours that Netflix, Facebook, Apple and AirTel might have purchased the document as well. The sale for IPL media rights will take place for June 12, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set a fixed combined base price of INR 32,890 crore for the four packages.

The report also suggests that each party has asked over 100 questions to the BCCI authorities, mostly regarding the number of matches next season with some rumours claiming that the number of games could increase. BCCI are likely to answer all questions in two weeks time.

On the other hand, Viacom 18 are likely to give the current broadcasters, Star, a tough competition for the media rights. Uday Shankar, who was associated with Star when they bought the rights for INR 16347 crores in 2017, has now picked up 39 per cent shares in Viacom 18, while Mukesh Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians, is a majority stakeholder in the entity.
