Assam skipper Riyan Parag has had a dream start to 2024 with two back-to-back centuries for his side in the Ranji Trophy. The batter now aims to replicate his form in the upcoming IPL 2024, also the stage where it would be an audition for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Parag eyes IPL 2024 after dazzling form in Ranji Trophy
Speaking to The Hindu after his 2nd ton, Parag said that he was being more expressive on field, noting that cricket was all about muscle memory and that his practice of shots helped him. He said that the IPL was going to be huge for him despite admitting that it was a different tourney with more skilled bowlers.
“The IPL is going to be huge for me. I am just thinking of carrying my domestic form into the IPL. I know it is a different tournament, the bowlers are more skilful but my skill doesn’t go away,” Parag said.
However, Parag claims his skill won’t fade away in the presence of such bowlers either. He pinned hopes on batting up early in the order for Rajasthan Royals, citing his form at number 4 for Assam but said that he did not batting down the order either, adding that he was not a guy who looked at averages.
