When one talks about the best batsmen in IPL ever, there is hardly any doubt Aussie David Warner will make the list. If we filter out the list a bit more, and talk about the best overseas IPL batsman, it has to be Warner, at least his record suggests so. The southpaw opener became the first overseas batsman in the history of the tournament to score 6500 career runs.
Before the start of the Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings match, Warner sat pretty on 6479 runs in 179 matches, needing 21 to reach the milestone. And, as expected, he delivered by scoring 52 off 35 balls. At the time of reaching the record, scored those runs at an average of 41.73, and at a strike rate of 140. His record also includes 62 fifties and four tons.
Warner Behind Virat Kohli & Shikhar Dhawan
David Warner is just behind Indians Kohli and Dhawan, who have scored 7444 and 6754 runs, respectively. If that’s not enough, he has most fifty plus scores in the IPL. Interestingly, the next overseas player in the list for most runs is, now retired AB de Villiers, who in 184 matches had 5162 runs at an average of 39.
Chris Gayle in his IPL career had scored 4965 runs in 142 matches, at an average of 39.
