IPL Centralised Merchandising: In what is coming as a piece of great news for fans, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to sell merchandise of all 10 IPL teams centrally. BCCI talked about centralised merchandising with IPL team owners on Friday. This happened at the owners’ meeting in Kochi, which was held ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

IPL president Arun Singh Dhumal and BCCI secretary Jay Shah were also in attendance at the meeting.

The IPL is planning to hire an agency to handle the merchandise for all ten teams and divide profits among them.

Even though a sizable amount of IPL team merchandise is sold in the nation each year, a sizable percentage of it is fake. As a result, franchises generate very little money selling memorabilia.

With the introduction of a central agency, this is anticipated to alter.

Among other issues at the meeting, the BCCI also promised the upgradation of infrastructure to the teams at the IPL venues.

The BCCI representatives also appeared to discourage the franchises from competing in international T20 leagues. The Indian Premier League (IPL) owners investing abroad and participating in international leagues appear to be a worrying trend that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is noticing.
