Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra firmly believes that Rohit Sharma would be the right man to lead India in the T20 World Cup 2024. His remarks come two days after BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the Hitman will be the captain for the marquee event.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra explains why it wasn’t too premature to announce the captain. The ex-India opener believes it is the right time as there no T20I series left anymore. He adds that India captain will not be chosen based on how captains perform for their IPL franchises.
“Captaincy in IPL cannot decide who will be India skipper right? Rohit Sharma is not even a captain in IPL. If he is your captain, then the decision was already taken at the start of this year. It was officially communicated now,” Chopra says.
With Rohit Sharma on a break from T20Is, Hardik Pandya was the leader of India T20I team. Speculations were rife about India captain for T20 World Cup when MI replaced Rohit with Hardik for IPL 2024. Now, Hardik will have to play under Rohit in India Cricket Team once again.
