Phil Salt has called the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction confusing after he failed to fetch any deal in the IPL 2024 Auction.
Salt was released by Delhi Capitals (DC) before the auction. He has played nine matches and scored 218 runs. He also bagged two fifties last season.
Salt was expecting that he would get picked as he had performed well in the previous season of the League.
“It was a confusing morning,” Salt said. “I expected to be picked up, having gone there last year and done well and after the year that I’ve had, but these things happen. It’s part of the lottery of an auction, it happens in draft processes as well. There’s a few lads in our dressing room who are going to have a very good Christmas and I’m over the moon for them.
“I was a bit confused but it can happen. There’s no bad cricketers on the list at the IPL. It’s one of those things.”
The English player was bought by Delhi Capitals in 2023 for 2 crores.
Phil Salt ‘ subconsciously’ thought of IPL snub during 119 knock
Salt said that he was thinking about the IPL auction ‘subconsciously’ during his 119 innings against West Indies on Thursday. Salt has two consecutive centuries in the T20I series between England and West Indies.
