IPL auction scenario: USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar can be steal deal for MI after slaying Pakistan in T20 WC

Having once played for Mumbai in domestic tourney, USA's Saurabh Netravalkar now stands a chance to return at IPL 2025, this time as part of MI

USA cricket team star Saurabh Netavalkar has thrown his hat in the ring to be a part of IPL 2025 auction. The former Mumbai cricket team pacer made a name for himself in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, especially after helping the underdogs defeat Pakistan. While he moved to the USA for higher studies after having played for Mumbai and India in U19 level, he now stands a chance of returning to his hometown – this time as a part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.

Saurabh Netravalkar to MI in IPL 2025?

Saurabh Netravalkar stands a very big chance for going unsold at IPL auction. The simple reason is his lack of experience in the shortest format, especially in major leagues across the globe. However, if there is one IPL team that is reputed for grooming homegrown talent, it is none other than Mumbai Indians.

Netravalkar would be a steal deal for MI, should they manage to secure the pacer’s services at IPL 2025 auction. While he was missing from the list of players registered for the auction initially, he now has been included alongside Jofra Archer and Hardik Tamore.

Talking about Saurabh’s international records with the ball, he has managed to take 36 wickets in the same number of games. In T20s, he has 51 wickets from 43 games. However, he is a very valuable bowler when it comes to the white-ball format, having tasted more success in ODIs so far. He would be a valuable addition to MI’s bowling line-up alongside Jasprit Bumrah as the side aims to rebuild a whole new pace battery.

Mumbai Indians (MI) head into IPL 2025 auction with Rs 51 crore, having retained Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma. If they are to bid for Saurabh Netravalkar, then it is very much possible that the pacer could be acquired for his base price itself.
