Truth be told, this coming IPL Auction 2025 is tailor-made for a few big names — to get big bucks from interested franchises. Batter KL Rahul, the ex-skipper of LSG, who was released by Sanjiv Goenka during IPL Retentions, is certainly one of them. Not only does he bring a lot of value to any team with the bat, but is a successful IPL captain and does bring a sense of stability in the batting order.
RCB vs CSK for KL Rahul
Look, it was pretty clear, that as soon as KL Rahul was released, he will be on the radar of a few teams. So him getting a huge price is a guaranteed, but which team manages to dole out that amount of money, remains to be seen. CSK, for now have an RTM left, and a purse of INR 55 Cr. Earlier it was expected that the team would go all out for Rishabh Pant, but that might not happen after all.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan had clarified earlier, that the team might not be able to bag him if the price is too high. Instead, it could be chance for them to look at Rahul. He also fits in a few roles at Chennai. The team is anyways on the lookout for a successor for MS Dhoni, and he the former keeps wickets as well.

Apart from that, the five retentions CSK made — MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathirana, Shivam Dube and Ravidra Jadeja — they also need to look to solidify their batting order. Rahul at the top of the order, or in the middle will just do the job for them, and is bloody consistent too.
In his 11 years of IPL career, KL Rahul has played 132 matches and scored 4683 runs overall, at an average of 45.46. He has four tons and 37 fifties to his name, at a strike rate of over 134. This year too, he was good in patches, and scored 520 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.
In fact, he could be an excellent fit for the CSK, if the team manages to retain someone like a Rachin Ravindra, who could be accommodated at the top of the order, and gives them a spinning option as well.
